A privately held third-generation family commercial real estate company is looking for a business-oriented Leasing Manager, with retail leasing experience, to join their team. They are very hands-on operationally and put our tenants first while trying to remain under the radar. They currently own and manage grocery anchored retail centers in Southern California, industrial buildings across the U.S. and many different single tenant properties ranging from apartments, lumber yards, motels, golf courses, tennis and pickleball clubs, restaurants to gas stations all over the US.
The Leasing Manager will primarily review, draft, negotiate and manage the process of leases and supplemental lease documents from initial preparation through execution for properties across the portfolio, working closely with the owner. In addition, the Leasing Manager will work closely with the operations team to assist in advising and documenting viable solutions to disputes.
This position reports directly to the owner of the organization and executes the day-to-day real estate activities of the multi-million square foot real estate portfolio in accordance with company objectives.
The main role would be drafting and negotiating real estate documents associated with the ownership, management, and operation of retail and mixed-use centers along with research and analysis of issues. These negotiations will include large national corporations such as Target, Ross, Walgreens as well as local mom as pop tenants.
In addition, the role would include exposure to a broad experience in real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, exchanges, ground leases, commercial leases, subleases, property management, brokerage, and development.
Review, draft, negotiate and manage the process for lease documents, secondary lease related documents and other supplemental documents from initial preparation through signing.
Communicate and interact with the company’s real estate director, property manager, accounting department, and Mesa Center’s outside counsel, as well as tenants, their counsel and brokers.
Oversee matters that impact operating properties including preparation of, or response to, default claims asserted by or against tenants; preparation of notices and letter amendments to the leases through resolution of matters/claims; research relating to property operations and use restrictions, tenant and landlord rights; and interpretation of lease language as requested.
Partner, counsel and advise owner on landlord-tenant disputes and property management issues.
Take all sign calls and organize tenants interested in leasing as well as tenants who we would want in the center.
Perform legal research, as necessary, on leases and other real estate matters.
Expertise with leasing matters including preparing, negotiating and finalizing retail lease agreements
Retail/franchising leasing experience is a plus
National tenant leasing experience is a plus
Licensed attorney is a plus
J.D. from accredited program
