A leading multifamily developer is looking for a Senior Development Manager to join their Western Region development team. This person will be responsible for entitling new multifamily development opportunities and ensuring business plan production targets are met. This position will work closely with Development Analysts, Development Associates, Vice Presidents and Senior Vice Presidents roles to successfully entitle current projects. The Development Manager will act as the firm’s lead point of contact in negotiations and meetings with municipalities and other project approval bodies, as well as project consultants. The Development Manager will also lead initial project due diligence and will assist in the creation of materials necessary to take the project to Investment Committee.


  • Meet with civic and governmental representatives and agencies to understand the zoning/entitlements and all site requirements

  • Determine entitlement process and develop plan for all local, state and federal approvals and create budget and spending estimates

  • Create and track initial due diligence and entitlement project schedule

  • Engage and manage consultants on all due diligence investigation and entitlement processing

  • Work with Development and Preconstruction team to maintain analysis of accurate budgets, schedules and projections

  • Prepare all necessary packages, aerials and supporting materials to take the project to Investment Committee

  • Utilize all in-house resources and external resources necessary for success

  • Monitor and provide necessary reporting regarding project projections, budgets and schedule

  • Update proforma models and analyze impacts of economic changes as compared to initial underwriting


  • 7+ years of experience in multi-family real estate development, land entitlement, land brokerage and/or project management experience; mixed-use experience useful

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Post-graduate degree such as MRED or MBA a plus

  • Proven track record managing community and political relations

  • Experience working on land development deals

  • Ability to interact with and relate to diverse audiences

  • Financial acumen with the ability to analyze and assist in underwriting opportunities

  • Good negotiating and organizational skills; ability to prioritize multiple tasks

  • Good communication skills, both oral and written

  • Good problem solving skills

  • Commitment to delivery of high quality work product

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs

  • Analytical thinking and attention to detail

  • Proven communication skills
