VP of Construction

San Diego, CA

A private multi-family investment platform is looking for a strategic VP of Construction for their Development team. This experienced professional will oversee the company’s national ground up construction efforts, including all on-site construction personnel and the company’s internal construction functions. This seasoned professional will provide input on product development, work closely with project management and be responsible for construction budgets and schedules.

Responsibilites

  • Manage and direct all aspects of the construction department

  • Maintain industry-established best practices for: estimating, bidding, vendor selection, contracting, vendor compliance, quality control, customer service, etc.

  • Oversee construction department personnel including: Estimating, Contracting, Purchasing, Field Superintendents, and Warranty Service

  • Create and maintain construction budgets and schedules

  • Provide assistance and support in legal matters related to construction

  • Ensure associates and subcontractors are in compliance with company and safety standards

  • Collaborate on plan and product development with key team members.

  • Provide pre-development input of construction techniques, value engineering, etc.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in construction and project management

  • Required experience with attached residential development

  • Desire to work in a collaborative fashion and support others

  • Experience with full cycle of construction functions: plan development, estimating, bidding, contracting, purchasing and on-site supervision

  • Exceptional organizational skills

  • Experience with Excel, Project and various contracting software strongly preferred
